Pilar will lead indexers through using Index-Manager efficiently for best writing quality embedded indexes. Beyond the basics, she will demonstrate and show how to import external index files for updating, modifying, and then embedding.   • Upcoming Events—Update on NISO Z39.4 Criteria for Indexes: Creating a National Standard at the upcoming American Society for Indexing (ASI) annual conference “Indexing Crossroads” Friday, 24 April 2020. Several members of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) Working Group on Criteria for Indexes will present an update on their progress, discuss the process of creating an indexing standard, discuss indexing issues that have arisen during the process, and take questions from the audience. The panel discussion will be facilitated by working group member John Magee and will include working group co-chairs Pilar Wyman and Marti Heyman, as well as working group member Janet Perlman.

This webinar “Indexing with Index Manager: Indexing and Embedding the Forest and the Trees” aired Tuesday, October 30, 2018. I demonstrated how I use Index-Manager for writing quality indexes, including for providing analysis and headings, subheadings, cross-references, and ranges. I also showed how I edit my work, and—perhaps most importantly for some of you—I showed how I export this work for final embedded publication (and re-publication, as you wish). Writing, editing, embedding index entries, this can all be done with professional indexing software.
